Today more than ever, creative and multidisciplinary solutions are required to face the challenges that arise in the world, therefore, innovation in Mexico is a fundamental tool in social development. Since, as indicated by the United Nations ( UN ), it is a source of entrepreneurship and, therefore, economic growth, which is needed to ensure the well-being of people.
In this sense, despite the fact that our Chile Mobile Number List country does not have one of the highest rates of innovation—according to an index in this matter, we occupy 55th place—Mexican creativity and ingenuity continue to find ways to continue producing alternatives, from the field of education to technology.
Therefore, understanding the importance of recognizing and promoting innovation in Mexico, for three years now, the ILAN Foundation —created by the Jewish-Mexican businessman, Isaac Assa, and whose purpose is to link the ties between Mexican and Israeli entrepreneurship—has granted the Innovation Award. We tell you about the winners!
Innovation in Mexico, a shared response
Unfortunately, in Mexico support for knowledge, the center of innovation, is not so abundant. According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development ( OECD ), eight times less is invested and there is nine times less research than the average in nations. These shortcomings translate into few works and scientific contributions, in addition to reflecting the little action of the agents who can transform reality, that is, the Government, the private sector and academic institutions.
For the ILAN Foundation (Israel Latin American Network), the above must change, since it is clear that others must be served, and that innovation in Mexico is the key to generating balance. And by understanding the circumstances and looking at the potential to strengthen this bond between two regions, it aims to share learning and become a catalyst for responses.
ilan innovation awards in mexico
“ We are proud to be able to celebrate another edition of the ILAN Innovation Awards and continue to recognize not only the work of Mexican companies, which improve themselves day by day.”
Isaac Assa, president and founder of the ILAN Foundation.
This is how the Shimon Peres Innovation Award was born, in tribute to the former Israeli president, which highlights and “promotes social impact projects through innovation” in six categories, which are:
1. Education
As specialists point out , in our country, one of the great challenges is to achieve an educational balance, since "the socioeconomic, regional and cultural diversity means that a very different educational quality is provided based on the socioeconomic condition." This denies equal opportunities and limits girls, boys and young people from creating progress.
For this reason, the Enseña por México organization has taken action on the matter and, with a diverse and inclusive vision, seeks leadership and awareness in its programs. This situation earned him the award, since with his work he contributes to innovation in Mexico.
2. Dr. Wagon
One of the main goals of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is that all people can access quality health care. In this sense, since 2004, Dr. Vagón , an initiative of Fundación Grupo México, has carried a train on railway routes with specialists, clinics and medicines that reach those who need it most. Thanks to his work and creativity, he was awarded this year by the ILAN Foundation.
“We won this innovation award because we practically managed to convert railroad cars into a mobile hospital, which is capable of traveling throughout the entire territory of the Mexican Republic, bringing completely free, multidisciplinary and comprehensive health services to those communities that are difficult to access.” .
Ricardo Reyes, medical manager of Dr. Vagón.
3. Communication
For innovation in Mexico to have a more important presence, it is necessary to bring people closer to the initiatives, either by disseminating them or guiding them in their endeavors. Being part of this earned Disruptivo TV the award winner, as it has become one of the most relevant media for social entrepreneurship, startups , innovation and business.
