Mercadona continues to grow through acquisitions. The Valencian company specialized in food distribution has strengthened itself in Madrid with the purchase of the AC Aravaca hotel, owned, until now, by businessman Antonio Catalán, to transform it into a supermarket. The asset has been transacted for an amount close to sixteen million euros.
The adaptation works to change the use of the France Telemarketing Data asset from occupying a hotel to a supermarket will mean that the opening of the new center will not take place until 2025.
The company owned by Juan Roig has acquired an asset located next to the A-6 highway, in the Moncloa-Aravaca district, which has 110 rooms and until now operated under the AC Hotels by Marriott brand. The ownership of the asset belonged to the company Belagua 2013 , a company controlled by Catalán.
The center will become the fourth supermarket that Juan Roig's company will have in the northeast district of Moncloa-Aravaca. In Spain, Mercadona has 1,600 stores, in addition to fifty more centers located in Portugal . The company's workforce exceeds 100,000 employees.
This purchase follows the dynamic that Mercadona has carried out in the last months of 2023. The Valencian group made an investment of more than 40 million euros in the last days of the last financial year with the aim of fulfilling its promise to touch the 60 new stores in 2023 that it announced at the beginning of the year. Among the supermarkets that have opened their doors in recent days are one in the Salamanca neighborhood, in Madrid, as well as others in Valencia, Granada or Fraga (Huesca).
The group carried out a sprint in the final stretch of the year. Among the openings that stand out the most, due to their relevance and visibility, is the one located on Príncipe de Vergara Street, 90, corner with General Pardiñas Street, 99, in the heart of the Salamanca neighborhood . This opening will also be the group's 200th, as announced by idealista/news.
